Iron Oxide Blue | Inorganic Blue Pigment

Iron Oxide Blue (C.I. Pigment Blue 27, also known as Prussian blue) is a classic synthetic inorganic blue pigment, delivering deep-toned blue shade. It features fine powder particles, strong tinting strength, good light fastness and weather resistance, excellent fade resistance for long-term outdoor exposure.

Different from high-cost cobalt blue or easily faded organic blue pigments, our iron oxide blue owns stable chemical performance, odor-free, low-toxic, good hiding power. It is insoluble in water and compatible with coatings, rubber, plastic and partial cement-based systems. Note: It is sensitive to strong alkaline environment, long-term contact with fresh high-alkali cement will cause color fading. Not for food-contact applications unless specially certified grade.

We supply multiple grades of iron oxide blue with different hue options, covering general construction coloring, paint-coating, rubber-plastic coloring scenarios to satisfy different hue and process requirements.

Permanent Color Retention: Excellent UV and weather resistance, maintains stable blue tone for decades under outdoor conditions, far superior to conventional organic blue pigments.

Good Compatibility: Perfectly compatible with resin, rubber, plastic, oil-based and water-based coatings. Needs special attention when applied to fresh high-alkali cement substrates.

Stable Chemical Performance: Good acid resistance, anti-aging, resistant to rain and atmospheric erosion. Not suitable for long-term strong alkali environment.

Good Dispersion Performance: Uniform fine powder, easy for stirring and dispersion, low agglomeration risk, friendly for mass industrial production.

Cost-Effective: High tinting strength with low addition dosage, stable quality and competitive price, ideal for large-volume projects.

Our iron oxide blue series includes multiple hue options, ranging from deep navy-blue to bright vivid sky-blue, with stable performance in coatings, rubber-plastic products and modified cement systems. Differences lie in hue, oil absorption and application focus.

• Deep navy-blue tone: moderate oil absorption, balanced tinting strength and fluidity, universal general-purpose grade. Shows dark blue in grey cement, deep-marine blue in white cement. Widely used for general interior & exterior wall coatings, industrial anti-rust paint, rubber floor mats, colored asphalt, terrazzo, cement products with controlled alkalinity.
• Bright vivid sky-blue shade: better fineness and dispersion property, lower oil absorption. Shows soft blue-grey in grey cement, bright sky-blue in white cement. Suitable for high-quality rea-stone paint, color paste, ink, EPDM rubber particles for sports ground, high-end plastic masterbatch, scenarios requiring bright, uniform blue without color difference.

Construction Building Materials

Suitable for cement-based products with controlled alkalinity; avoid direct mixing with fresh high-alkali un-cured cement:

• Road & Pavement: Blue colored permeable bricks, municipal pavement tiles, garden landscape precast components, colored asphalt
• Building Decoration: Decorative mortar, terrazzo floor, exterior real stone paint, color putty
• Recommended Dosage: 2%-4% based on cement weight. Special alkali-resistant formula treatment is required for cement-based materials. Maximum safe dosage ≤6% to avoid negative impact on concrete strength.

Paints, Coatings & Low-Temperature Enamel

Suitable for normal-temperature and low-temperature baking coating systems (≤160°C), reliable outdoor anti-fading performance:

• Water-based & Oil-based Coatings: Interior-exterior latex paint, anti-rust primer, mechanical equipment protective paint, architectural texture paint
• Special Coatings: Landscape facility paint, fence paint, craft decorative paint

Plastics & Rubber Industry

Stable coloring for medium-low temperature processed plastic and rubber goods, uniform color distribution:

• Plastics: PVC profiles, outdoor plastic flower pots, plastic guardrails, plastic flooring
• Rubber: Sports venue EPDM rubber particles, rubber floor mats, sealing strips, rubber accessories

Other Fields

Suitable for decorative craft paper, art pigment, leather coloring and other fields requiring long-lasting blue color.

Mixing Principle: Dry-mix pigment fully with base materials firstly, then add water or solvent for stirring, to prevent agglomeration and floating color.

Color Adjustment: Mix with white cement/white filler for bright blue tone; refer to our official color chart for reference color performance under different substrates.

Important Reminder: Iron oxide blue is sensitive to strong alkali. When used for cement products, adopt alkali-resistant modification measure to prevent color fading.

Storage Method: Store in sealed dry environment, keep away from moisture and dust. Minor agglomeration can be crushed before use.

Process Limit: Avoid continuous working temperature above 180°C, not applicable for high-temperature ceramic glaze sintering.
